Thapelo’s career in the environmental sector began in 2007, laying a strong foundation in environmental monitoring and compliance. He joined Rayten Engineering Solutions (Pty) Ltd in 2014 as an Environmental Technician, where he quickly distinguished himself through his exceptional technical proficiency, work ethic, and commitment to excellence. During his time in this role, Thapelo gained valuable hands-on experience in key environmental processes, including dust fallout monitoring, stack emission surveys, and the installation and maintenance of advanced environmental monitoring systems. His responsibilities extended beyond routine tasks  such as the monthly replacement and filtration of dust buckets to ensuring the integrity, reliability, and accuracy of environmental data. He played a critical role in the deployment of sophisticated instruments and Air Quality Monitoring Systems.

In 2017, Thapelo was appointed as a Director at Marang Environmental and Associates, the BEE partner to Rayten. In this leadership position, he successfully transitioned from a technical specialist to a strategic leader. Thapelo brought to Marang a deep understanding of environmental monitoring and used this expertise to lead teams and advance the companies reputation in the field of air quality monitoring. His leadership has been characterized by a forward-thinking approach, unwavering professional ethics, and a sincere dedication to people and the company’s success. Thapelo has built enduring relationships with clients and strategic partners. His ability to align technical excellence with business objectives has been instrumental in strengthening both Marang’s and Rayten’s reputations in the industry. Known for his integrity, humility, and quiet determination, Thapelo is deeply respected by his peers and colleagues across both organizations. In recognition of more than a decade of impactful contribution and a steadfast commitment to the growth and vision of Rayten, Thapelo was appointed as Technical Director at Rayten in 2025.
