Modise Mokgosi

Modise Mokgosi is the Safety Manager at Rayten Engineering Solutions (Pty) Ltd. He was introduced to the air quality monitoring industry in 2019 and over the years he has been involved in numerous projects ranging from ambient air quality monitoring, dust fallout, noise monitoring and stack emissions monitoring. Modise was employed as a field technician and then promoted to laboratory assistant and in 2023 became the company’s Safety Manager.

Modise holds a SAMTRAC Certificate that he obtained through AAK Skills Development in 2022. He is currently studying for a Diploma in Safety management through UNISA. Modise is also a trained as a first aider, basic fire fighter, working at heights and trained in Hazard Identification and Risk assessment.

His main responsibility at Rayten is to review existing policies and measures, organize OHS training, inspect premises and work activities, investigate incidents, and prepare reports on occurrences. His role also includes identifying hazards, ensuring compliance with legislation, and promoting a culture of health and safety in the workplace.

He also assists in determining what dangers are associated with the work performed on site, articles processed, used, handled or stored and any machinery which is used. Furthermore, to establish the precautionary measures which should be taken with respect to such work.

His duty is to advise Management of all the health and safety issues as required by the Act and in particular the Construction Regulations, to ensure that all records, registers and required documentation are maintained and available as prescribed by the Act and regulations. He ensures that all work is performed by suitably trained and competent persons.

During the four years at Rayten, Modise has learnt that teamwork is vital in ensuring the company’s continued growth and success. He also ensures the health, safety and environmental issues are solved and preventative plans and measures are put in place to ensure zero harm on site and in the workplace.
